Righteousness, Life & Heaven: The Last Adam

I have saved the best for last! The previous two blog posts were all gloom and doom. All sin, death and hell, and so it was with Paul, too.
Paul cries out, “What a wretched man I am!”
And then he asks, “Who will rescue me from this body of death?” (Romans 7:24)
But then Paul, in the very next verse, answers his own question. And that answer can give us such hope because Paul says, “Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!” (Romans 7:25a)
It doesn’t have to end in sin, death and hell.
This blog post contains the best part: righteousness, life and heaven!
“Since by the one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, how much more will those who receive the overflow of grace and the gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man, Jesus Christ.” Romans 5:17
Who was that one man?
Who was that one man by whom sin was slain?
Who was that one man who defeated death?
Jesus Christ. The GodMan. The Last Adam.
Through Jesus Christ, the curse has been reversed.
Instead of sin, death and hell, through the finished work of Christ on the cross, the Great Exchange can take place. We now have His righteousness, life and heaven.
We start our lives trapped in sin, on the dusty road to death, which will take us in to eternity without God, which is hell.
God loved us, even when we were enemies, and provided a way of escape so we can end our lives here on earth, trusting in the riches of his grace, on the way to life everlasting with Him in heaven.
“Israel, put your hope in the Lord, both now and forever.” (Psalm 131:3)
There is the promise: life forevermore.
“But God proves his own love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” (Romans 5:8)
God looked down through time and said, “They are going to need some help! They are not going to make it back to me. The only way they are going to be able to do that is through my Son.”
So God sent His Son Jesus Christ, while we were still sinners, He died for us. God is a planner. He makes it happen! He did that for us, sinners! While we were still enemies! It’s not just that we messed up, flubbed up, made some mistakes, or were a little bit disobedient. We were enemies. Dead in our trespasses.
For the believer, the best is yet to come! Jesus, our Savior, has paid the price for our sins. Jesus, the Last Adam has taken on Himself our reconciliation with God. Jesus has saved the best for last.
As believers, we have so much to look forward to! Jesus has saved the best for us, for last.
