Proverbs & Rebukes: Whom Should You Rebuke? (Part 3)

The wise and the inexperienced (the young) can benefit from a rebuke; a sensible, receptive person can handle a rebuke too.

Rebuke a Sensible/ Perceptive Person

Proverbs 17:10, A rebuke cuts into a perceptive person more than a hundred lashes into a fool.

A spoken rebuke is going to cut into a person who is ready to receive it and learn from it, more than a hundred lashes on the back of a fool. This person is a wise person. Contrast him with a fool, who receives great physical pain from a mistake or sin, and learns nothing from it.

So…don’t rebuke a mocker or a wicked person. Feel free to rebuke a wise man, the inexperienced man, or the perceptive person.
