Preaching Thru The Bible, Specifically Zechariah

At Blackman Baptist, we preach the whole Bible. In our short history, we have preached through many complete books… verse by verse…books such as James, Isaiah, Proverbs, Mark, John, Titus, Acts, and Philippians.

We have preached other books in a slightly different way; we have tried to cover these books in a survey, overview perspective. Books like…Genesis, Psalms, Ephesians, Colossians, Proverbs, and Isaiah and that’s how we approached Zechariah… sort of like a flyover approach.

Important Sidebar: You are praying for your pastors, right? It is SUCH an awesome responsibility to preach the Word, and we do not take it lightly. We feel the burden to be faithful to the Lord and His Word. Please do pray for us. Faithfully, often.

Is there pressure in preaching from Zechariah? Maybe Zechariah is not too much pressure; after all, he is a “minor” prophet, right? I mean, Zechariah is not one of the four Gospels, or a letter from Paul. He’s not a major prophet like Jeremiah or Ezekiel, right?

But…on the other hand Zechariah is not Obadiah (one chapter) or Haggai (two chapters) either, because Zechariah has 14 chapters…we easily could have divided it, and Zechariah could have been three or four sermons!

Maybe the pressure in rightly dividing the Word of truth in Zechariah is a good news/bad news scenario. It’s both good and bad news that no one knows much of anything of Zechariah, or anything in Zechariah.

Think right now…what do you know about Zechariah?

Next question…what should I know and remember about Zechariah?
